Two new books for Christmas are proving highly popular. Surprisingly, since it is in the Doric - the vernacular of the North East of Scotland - THE WAATER MANNIE, the life story of water diviner, healer and shepherd Neil Mutch is selling way beyond his home patch. It is a fascinating and moving story of a life lived close to the soil and the language is obviously no barrier to undersanding.
Ron Ferguson's first foray into the world of football writing, BLACK DIAMONDS AND THE BLUE BRAZIL, turned out to be a cult classic. Many critics rated it as one of the best football books ever written. If Black Diamonds plumbed the depths of despair - as Ron's team dearly loved Cowdenbeath team scraped the very bottom of the barrel, the tone has changed completely for his HELICOPTER DREAMS.
Last season, Cowdenbeath's fortunes underwent a remarkable transformation which saw them win the Holy Grail - they came top of their league. Helicopter Dreams is a celebration of this amazing turnaround.
Both books, in hard covers, and with a section of colour photographs sell for a bargain £9.99 each.
Meantime last year's surprise best seller, the beautifully produced IN FAMED BREADALBANE continues to sell well in both its de luxe hard covered edition and in the real leather binding.
Also on the shelves again is a new edition of the ever popular HENDERSON'S BOOK OF SALADS. Truly something for everyone this Christmas time.
